RE: SOMA Discussion Thread - Statyk - 10-02-2013 How is this reminding people of SCP? If anything the closest thing I imagine are Penumbra computers. In no point in time was SCP in my brain :I RE: SOMA Discussion Thread - Tesseract - 10-02-2013 (10-02-2013, 04:35 AM)Alardem Wrote:(10-02-2013, 04:30 AM)Delirium92 Wrote:(10-02-2013, 03:33 AM)Alardem Wrote: A sane one this time around? I agree; however, it doesn't really remind me of penumbra either from the tidbits I have seen I can't say it reminds me of anything. Though some of the little bits of art I have seen remind me of an under water area. RE: SOMA Discussion Thread - Kman - 10-02-2013 for some reason people automatically think scp when they see some sort of high tech facility + horror now RE: SOMA Discussion Thread - Potato - 10-02-2013 (10-02-2013, 06:43 AM)Kman Wrote: for some reason people automatically think scp when they see some sort of high tech facility + horror nowI think the reaction is more so because of the document. The item # (implying they have thousands of anomalous items), description, addendum/appendix in this case as well as censoring and general layout of the document are very SCP reminiscent. Though some of the little bits of art I have seen remind me of an under water area. Well I generally wasn't reminded of anything when I first found out, but if it HAD to be anything, Penumbra is the closest thing I can imagine. But right now it kinda feels like its own thing for me, so that's pretty good. =P RE: SOMA Discussion Thread - MegaScience - 10-02-2013 It reminds us of SCP because, as Potato noted, the format of data presented is matching. Of course, SCP itself tries to mimic official documentation, so we can't say this isn't just a coincidence. Just that they are very close - Maybe call them... sister media? Whatever... I hope that isn't somehow insulting to any of them. I commend storyline through official documentation. RE: SOMA Discussion Thread - Paddy™ - 10-02-2013 DavidS, are you responsible for the artwork/GUI on the website? ![]() EDIT: in plutomaniac's post the hidden string of characters appears to be T2GO - IIPH. The "II" (or maybe 11) seems more likely than a "H", because there doesn't appear to be a hyphen joining the two vertical lines. The final "H" could also be an "R". Here's a collage which should help us figure it out (the original is the one on the top-left): http://www.mediafire.com/view/1kmcox5l7g0sq5j/Vivarium+Code.png RE: SOMA Discussion Thread - Ossie - 10-02-2013 (10-01-2013, 09:58 PM)palistov Wrote: The wormputer strikes again! My main criticism was that it felt way too padded - could have been about 2 mins shorter (ie chop out much of the beginning) and hence been more effective. Admin staff query - now that the game title is known and we have a teaser for it, would it be possible to create a new section dedicated to it on this forum and move this thread over from The Dark Descent area? ![]() RE: SOMA Discussion Thread - Paddy™ - 10-02-2013 I thought the teaser was excellent. I was tense the whole time, not sure what that machine was gonna do. The length of the clip and the silence and the stillness made it even more intense. I also want to give massive kudos to the actress. The entire clip is one shot (assuming there wasn't a 6 hour cut after she leaves the room to fetch the chair haha) which isn't easy to pull off anyway, but to do that AND keep it interesting is impressive. She's got great presence, has an interesting voice, delivers her lines convincingly, etc. RE: SOMA Discussion Thread - fancreeper - 10-02-2013 I know this is cool and all,but I wonder when are we going to see some gameplay stuff. |
