Well, I still wanted to see if it made any sense or relation to the stuff we know, but it turns out to be something off.

My guess on what SOMA stands for Secure, Organize, Maintain, Aquire.

I don't think they'd pick Soma as the word unless it had meaning in the story. Sure it's initials but the word also is relevant.

I apologize that I might sound like I'm behind on all this. I have been distancing as much as I can on news about this Super Secret Project (SOMA) and I wish to know just a few things. I understand that this is connected or otherwise being worked on the HPL3 Engine so:
Have they mentioned the game mechanics being similar to that of Penumbra/Amnesia games?
Judging by the teaser, will this also be sort of Horror Sci-Fi as the genre, similar to Penumbra?
Is TheChineseRoom or any other company affiliated with the production in any way shape or form such as game design or scripting along with FrictionalGames or is FG working on this alone?
I understand that the latest teaser was very recently released and not much is known yet but has there been any information on the couple of questions listed above? Thanks.

1. No.
2. Horror with sci-fi setting. Nothing particular known about the genre.
3. The developer is Frictional Games team. I assume they outsourced some material, like that teaser, but that is. TCR busy with their own project.
4. There was no official statements or any interviews yet.

Somehow I think that's a coincidence.

I'm pretty sure they didn't choose that word just because they liked the protagonist of Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow. :p

Think of soma as the Indian equivalent to 'vitae'. I'm guessing this Soma organization is devoted to uncovering paranormal secrets, perhaps harvesting 'soma'.

If I'm not mistaken that piece David (or may be someone else) made as proof of concept in a similar setting/set up. It is not related to the game itself.
