The overall pacing of the entire episode was pretty in my opinion...flat. There wasn't really anything interesting that brought my interest up an extra notch. In comparison, "A Canterlot Wedding" had many of these moments where you can actually feel "the plot thickening", whereas in this two-parter the overall ups-and-downs are extremely minimal. The story also takes sudden cuts to certain things without proper pacing making some of it seem forced.

Plus, the villain in this episode is more, or less just an ominous presence who never has any sort of character at all. Chrysalis had more character in 10 minutes than the 40 minutes of how long we knew he existed. I know they'r two different types of villains, but still. He had massive potential to be really threatening, and scary, but I feel the reason this wasn't used to its full effect was due to his character's design. If you want a villain to be a sort of all-powerful entity, THAT is not a way you design him.

Overall, to me at least, I found the episodes pretty disappointing.
