I have proof he is alive! The ashes is in the incinerator before you puch the button! You can examine the ashes through a little gap (Not visible). It's kinda hard to find but i have proof!

First, that thing about the ashes: they quite obviously put it there before it was opened as there's no reason to wait until after Red's burning. In fact, Red doesn't exist in there - it's just a sound effect and there's nothing strange about the ashes being there all along.
