RE: Screenshot criticism thread - Kman - 05-12-2013 this better actually look good cause i wasted like my two nights worth of sleeping in over the weekend over this RE: Screenshot criticism thread - CorinthianMerchant - 05-12-2013 (05-12-2013, 11:38 AM)Kman Wrote: Awesome. My only complaint is that upper "torture walls" and the lower "dark" walls doesn't merge, try putting horizontal welders between them. The terrain and rocks I modeled myself, as well as creating the leaves falling particle effect. The grass I found online but the poly count was way too high so I had to reduce it - alot. Textured that myself too.a As for the "shit" lighting, bright areas never tend to look good however this screenshot doesn't have great lighting I'll admit This is a very, very early version, infact like I said, this is just testing out the assets, hopefully the final result looks much better. Best outdoor area I've seen yet (not counting the lighting ). RE: Screenshot criticism thread - CarnivorousJelly - 05-12-2013 I'm really sorry for the long post, but there are too many sections to squish them all into individual spoilers D: (05-10-2013, 02:32 PM)Acies Wrote: I think most of you (Robosprog, Kman, Hardarm, Kiandra etc.) use Amnesia assets better than I do[...]Woah wait wait what? I definitely am not good enough to have my name in that list. Okay, now that my ego is bordering on over-inflated, I'm going to try to make up for my absence from the forum for the last week (blame my stupid on the two calculus finals I had to write) :) Contained in the spoilers are responses to almost every screenshot posted since my last visit to this thread. I put the name of the person I was responding to in bold. Spoiler below!
Next post from me will (hopefully) be another screenshot of my own so you can all exact your revenge on me :p RE: Screenshot criticism thread - PutraenusAlivius - 05-13-2013 (05-12-2013, 09:07 PM)Kiandra Wrote: use a boxlightOkay. But I don't know what colour I should try. But I don't know what colour I should try. Coz I am learning from Kiandra Use a boxlight that is around about the same lighting as your room, but less than your lowest pointlight brightness. That's the most basic way to use a boxlight. Edit: Thanks guys for your criticism on my B/W room. I'm adjusting now. Unfortunately, not changing the roof size for architectural reasons. I have added a weeeeee bit more lighting from the fireplace so that the books are a little more noticeable, and have increased the brightness of the boxlight a little more. Also Kiandra; here is a closeup of those bookshelfs when I took the image(grayed using Paint.Net): Spoiler below!
And another edit (I know, im terrible.) Here is the finished corner of the room (I'll add more around it now) Spoiler below!
The point of this image is to show my adjustments and compare the brightness of the room to the fireplace lit corner, which is the main source of light minus three windows behind the camera. If you used all white lights (which it looks like you did) then the boxlight would be: R: 0.03 G: 0.03 B: 0.03 Start there and just adjust the values as necessary. @ROMul8r They look fine from that angle. You could vary it more, but that's not necessary And the map is looking great, by the way :) RE: Screenshot criticism thread - PutraenusAlivius - 05-15-2013 RE: Screenshot criticism thread - Rapture - 05-15-2013 |
