Video card not being utilized? - Overslept - 09-11-2011

When I execute the launcher, my GPU is listed but when I click detect, I get this error.

Spoiler below!

If I don't detect and just launch the game with my own settings (I max everything out, GTX 580 handles all of my games maxed), it's very laggy which leads me to believe that instead it is just using my integrated Intel HD 3000 graphics (I have an i7-2600k and an ASUS P8P67 Deluxe).

However, when I play Justine, I get perfect gameplay at 60+ FPS which means that the game's using my dedicated GPU.

1) What operating system do you have? Also 32-bit or 64-bit?
2) Attach me here the file HPL.log found under Documents\Amnesia\Main folder

I am on Windows 7 64-bit

Do not max SSAO, in fact, do not max something you don't know what it does. That's why your game is laggy.

Actually it is not that since he has the second best Nvidia graphics card out there. Make sure you have this installed:

Then if on steam, do a file integrity check and if you have the retail version reinstall the game.

Tanshaydar, thank you for your feedback but I'm almost positive it's not the SSAO slowing down my overclocked Twin Frozr II 580 Wink

I built my rig myself and I know what it's capable of.

I have the latest Nvidia drivers [Image: capturedue.png]

I've also tried reinstalling (retail version) to no avail.

since you did all these can you reattach the HPL.log file after trying to start a new game until it starts to lag?

There is no one point in the game where it starts lagging. If I crank up the settings to max (after clicking on detect), it will being to lag right at the main menu with the torch in the background. I believe this is because my internal GPU is trying to render the menu instead of my dedicated card.

Also, this only is a problem with the normal Amnesia game. When I play the Justine, even on max settings, it runs perfectly like it should at 60+ fps on my GTX 580. Yes, with SSAO Sleepy

You can be certain whether or not that is the case if your BIOS lets you disable the on-board GPU (which it should).
