Blegh. I can't even use that image. Whenever I try to open it in material editor, it crashes. I can't even get to the image itself, it crashes the moment I try to open the folder that the image is in. My log says this:

ERROR: Could not create GL texture C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Amnesia The Dark Descent/custom_stories/ALND Last Sip/graphics/crack_1_by_artsy_antics-d686i4i.png
ERROR: Could not open file C:/Users/Bear/Documents/HPL2/Thumbnails/4B97A73EE17E79723B221599DF0430FE9BED3EF2_tmb.jpg for reading!

Try changing it to a .dds?

Thanks! I never thought of that since I thought dds was some sort of amnesia proprietary extension but Gimp was able to export to dds just fine and now it works. Weird though since my last CS had like 20 custom mat files all using pngs and jpgs. Oh well, I'm glad it's working Smile

Update: Here's a new version.

A few problems: for some reason I can see the crack billboard through objects. I know there was something I did with the mat files in my last CS to fix this but for the life of me I can't figure it out. I put some grass on the floor since even though this section takes place in a dream a little realism couldn't hurt. I also put some fish since I never get to use those but they all fall to the floor. I'm sure I can mess with their files later on to stop that. Also, whenever I bump into one of my floating objects it goes flying at mach speed. What can I do to slow them? I get the feeling there's something in the model editor I can change but there's like 40 options and they...frighten me.

@DeAngelo try setting gravity to 0 in the flying models.
Or something else to 0. Just remember to backup

Here are some pictures of 2 rooms

Room 1
(The floor looks really dark, but it's just the texture that is a red carpet.)

I decided to go back to my CS that I've put away for a long time because of school. I remade the whole Back Hall.

Spoiler below!

CS time: Wednesday, June 4th, 9:14 AM, Cloudy with low-moderate visibility with little rain drops.

Yes I know the lighting is a bit terrible, but I'm trying to improve! Post your criticism!
Should I add any more light sources?
Make the light from the windows more noticeable?

And no Robosprog, I am not gonna satisfy your "blue-orange contrast" fetish.

RE: Screenshot criticism thread - daortir - 08-18-2014

Your light sources need to be more impactful : ).
What I mean is that your candles and windows don't give any noticable light around them. And basically, this makes the scene looks like one colour with small yellow points in it, and not like a dynamic environment.

So yeah, i'd suggest adding pointlights around the light sources, even small ones, to create something a bit more contrasted. If you want your lights sources to stand out, they have to look impactful : )!

Where are any decals?

Daortir that's a very good map, good job Smile

it's kinda dark in the left corner, you might wanna lighten that up a bit or is that my contrast? :p

anyway enjoyed your first mod so this might be great!
