RE: Screenshot criticism thread - Adny - 02-23-2013 aside from the few decals on the floor, it looks awfully... plain. Just boxes in a hall. You can use the wooden wall welders (found at the bottom of the walls list in static_dungeon set) to make the walls look more interesting. You could also use the dirt wall leak decal (its in static_objects). A little fog never hurts either RE: Screenshot criticism thread - PutraenusAlivius - 02-23-2013 (02-23-2013, 02:12 PM)Robosprog Wrote:Nice one. Also, didn't you said you're gonna comment on my screenshot ? RE: Screenshot criticism thread - Adny - 02-23-2013 I was referring more to the standard fog, not the floor variant (tbh I never use it except for maybe on top of a body of water). Fog can be hard to work with, be sure to fix the alpha value (0.5 is good), the color, and the fade distances. For reference I'd suggest looking at the first level of Justine - its a great example of using fog subtly and matching the color to the light sources around it. S'beautiful. RE: Screenshot criticism thread - Adny - 02-24-2013 Could use some dangle-y things like ropes/chains on the support beams and paipez. Nice screen Robo! love your ability to get such unique things out of amnesias assets. I can see you have a kind of dust particle in the side, but would it not make more sence for it to be in the light area? RE: Screenshot criticism thread - Adny - 02-24-2013 tbh, not liking this one so much. The architecture/overall design of it is nice, but the lighting falls short. I don't really care for the blue torches at all, they look so unnatural it almost breaks immersion for me personally. Anyways, the light around the candle doesn't match the candle. Candle is yellow, light surrounding it is brownish orange, more fit for a torch or hanging lantern. Also (unless there's another significant lightsource I cannot see from this angle) it gives off too much light in proportion to its size. Oh, and use shadowcasters. lotsathose. The little wooden post on the right bugs me the most. The way the blue light goes right through it and casts no shadow rustles my jimmy-jams. You know what happens if 2 spotlights or more that cast shadows collide their spots into each other right? :b RE: Screenshot criticism thread - Adny - 02-24-2013 A super shadow is formed in which no light, matter or gravity can escape? I believe they are called black holes. |
