I would be terrified mostly if i met a brute, they are the ones you don't have a chance against and the worm seems like, can't you jump climb up a tree or something?

But on the other hand i'm a tracer .. but still the brute would be able to chop down a tree wouldn't he?

(tracer - a man who does parkour)

EDIT:

Oh i just realized that the worm is gigantic..

Both the gigantic Worm and the Brute can kill you in one strike. The worm just bashes through just about anything in its way. The Brute, being humanoid, is better able to sneak around and scare/get you.

Yes, if you went up a tree the Brute could chop it down, assuming the blade didn't get stuck (I'd love to see a frustrated Brute who can't get his blade out). The worm is strong enough to simply knock the tree down, assuming it 'saw' you climb the tree in the first place.

If the worm did work in Amnesia, I would make a level with both monsters. One to patrol the more open areas, while the other lurked around the tighter areas.

Now that i've played Penumbra Overture, i guess i'm going to have an say the worm now.. as it just can bash out of the ground any moment.

The water horror has a very stressed feeling, but the most scary ones are the brutes. Their sound, their terrible chasing.. gah. And the god damned KACHING sound when they hit you, its so brutal, and scary.

The Kaernks of course. Hitpoints, regeneration rate and attack power are completely irrelevant in a game that doesn't even take it into account (because there is no combat). The numbers associated with them are just there so that the monster is functional in-game. Just because the Brute has a bigger health bar or more attack power than the Grunt doesn't mean it is more powerful. In most cases if you are spotted, you are dead. Real horror is purely psychological and the thing that most frightened me were the Kaernks. What's scarier than something you can't see and which can sense where you are at all times?

Seriously, if a Kaernk had ever been in an area where there was no water and you had to sneak past totally silent it would have topped everybody's list easily. It obviously isn't aquatic because it only walks on the water and it makes no real sense why they are only found in water other than because the game says so. I would have been scared as fuck. Without the ripples to see where it is, you could very well be walking right towards it without knowing… now that's horrifying.

They really could have played the Kearnk better in the game if they had areas where you had to SWIM in the water... thus not seeing the monster at all (cue evil laugh smilies).

Though the Brute's walking sound is is creepy, especially after seeing what it belongs to Smile

Sorry, but the Kaernk just doesn't do it for me. I suppose that's because I'm a total boss in jumping that I simply breezed through the water level. What's scariest to me? I'm not too freaked out by the rock worm (for whatever reason), so I'd have to settle on. . . The infected. They eat people, you can become one, they use teamwork and possibly worst of all is that they have flashlights. FLASHLIGHTS, MAN!

In-game, the #1 scariest for me would have to be the brute like a lot of other people. First time I saw that thing walk by in the prison, I shat a brick house Tongue IRL wise though the infected are probably the last things I'd want to go up against since they're more sentient and intelligent than all the other monsters.

Unlike the Brutes and Grunts, those infected are quite smart and hard to avoid because they have those darn Flashlights! Have to wonder just how many batteries they have though.
