RE: For those with slowdown near enemies, look here! - Chaku01 - 08-16-2007 Ok, the game works quite fine for me as long as there are no enemies around (for the moment, dogs, spiders, big worms). Around these enemies the game slows down (sometimes dropping below 1 f/s) for a couple of seconds and then it works fine again. Though, in one particular room, the game becomes extremely slow, dropping well under 1 f/s, I think the place is Section B, shaft 13 (screenshot001). Hereby attached is the hpl_update for the dog fight. I play the game in 1280*800, no AA, 2x Anisoptry, no post effects, no motion blur. RE: For those with slowdown near enemies, look here! - Thomas - 08-16-2007 Chaku01: So the screenshot is NOT from where the log was made? Cause there are 3 dogs in the file and that is strange otherwise Same here is that I cannot really find any big slowdown :S Rendering takes 3ms and the entities + physics take 7 and then added to that is some extra 1 making it 11ms. And this should be enough for 60 frames and updates per second. (11 *60 = 660ms, leaving 440ms!). This is really confusing, all other bottlenecks I have had, have been found this way. Could you check so that the OpenGL properties of the video card does not force vsync or anything like that? Cause there are 3 dogs in the file and that is strange otherwise The screenshot is not from the dogfight, it is from the room where I experience extreme slowdowns (less than 1f/s) for about 2-3 min, and the only enemies around are the spiders blocked by the big rock obstructing their cave. Would it be useful to test that area with this special .exe as well? The place where I fought is at the beginning of Section C, there are indeed 3 dogs roaming around there. I should clarify here that these slowdowns are not permanent i.e: for about 2-3 sec I only have 1-2 f/s, then it seems to go smoothly again for a couple of seconds before the slowdown reappear. I will test another dogfight to see if you can find any discrepancies there. I will also test the worm chase (sluggish at times as well) to see if anything unusual happens there... Vsync was not forced in my OpenGL settings before I installed the new Omega Drivers (if you still have not read my other post, thanks for the tip!), but I will check tonight to see if these new drivers changed anything. RE: For those with slowdown near enemies, look here! - Thomas - 08-16-2007 Chaku01: Yes please make a log of the slowdown on the screen. And when you exit the game to get the log, do this during the slowdown, exit by ctrl alt delete or something so that some nice frame rate is not registered. THe log only registers the last 20 or something frames so this is important. RE: For those with slowdown near enemies, look here! - Chaku01 - 08-17-2007 Yesterday I tested the "Stutter Room" as I call it now, twice. The results are hereby attached with plenty of screen shots, I also made a video with Fraps but it is much too large to post here, anyways it wouldn't be really useful. As you can see, the screen shots show the f/s measured by fraps, on one of them you can read 12, still playable, but the others show 1... I'm sure it was less than 1f/s but I guess fraps doesn't go there, it probably was more around 0.5 f/s. I tested the dog fight again, but to my surprise, I did not encounter any of the extreme performance drops I had before. This might be due to the patch and the new drivers I'm using (omega drivers). I will test it when I have some time in other parts of the game to see if this problem really disappeared. To be continued... RE: For those with slowdown near enemies, look here! - Thomas - 08-17-2007 Chaku01: Problem here is physics I am afraid... possibly some boulder that collides with too much. RE: For those with slowdown near enemies, look here! - WoNHommer - 08-30-2007 Well, I used to have slowdowns when fighting enemies, but now I load the game and I'm on a place where I get less than 1fps, always. I can't walk, its like if I were teleporting. There are no enemies on this room btw... I will make a log and then post it here. My problem is described here: http://frictionalgames.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=1311 Edit1 I can't start the game with this new exe... I get this when loading: RE: For those with slowdown near enemies, look here! - Mark26 - 09-01-2007 I have slowdowns when i'm in shaft 12 at the wolves.
