The Haunted Stairwell v1.0 - Asphex - 02-27-2012

Hello everybody!

This is a short custom story based on the "SCP" games. I tried to focus mainly on developing the "true fear" atmosphere for you, 'cause that's what they are about.


Story Description: (Taken from the actual custom story)

You are a secret agent of the old British Paranormal organisation known as "The Queen's Hand". You were sent to investigate an old rectory in Essex, the Borley rectory. The village of Borley lies on the River Stour, two miles north-west of Sudbury in Suffolk and 24 miles north-east of Chelmsford in Essex. It is said, that the rectory has a stairwell that seems to be haunted. It is up to you to investigate this case.

This is my first custom story I've ever created, so any kind of feedback is appreciated.
I plan on making a next custom story including puzzles, outdoor areas, basically nicer map design, new models etc.

I posted it on Mod DB today, but it says it will take 1-2 days for it to be authenticated. I'm not sure if I did anything wrong there(Yes, I'm a noob), but let's hope everything will be allright. Smile

i light last candle on stairs, brute appears, but i managed to hide under the bottom of the ladder
and Brute here cannot see me!
but - i walk to the door, and can"t move!
seems script worked, creepy music still playing, but brute disappear o_OO Tongue

Dark Knight: Thank you ! It was my first priority and I aimed for the atmosphere first Smile. Also you're not supposed to do that Big Grin I guess if you want to have some fun and outsmart the game Wink Not sure if I should fix that or leave it for those people who love to find bugs

That was really good! You should make more of it. Also a much longer one to keep it even more intense.

It really had me going crazy with every set of stairs.
I also like your choice of making an Amnesia mod of SCP-087,

Thank you! I did what I could for my first custom story. I like the fact that you liked my idea of implementing the SCP world into Amnesia. And I'm glad to hear that, sir! Wink Stay tuned

There were some obvious texture clipping on the stairs and at the beginning, right by the door. Fix this by moving the plane 0.001. I jumped at the grunt, but mainly because it was my human instinct, not because I had true fear. I wasn't very scared at all. For a first map, it was decent, but you can do far better. Practice scripting, mapping, and learning what people like in a CS, and execute it well.

Thanks for your reply, appreciate it. I don't really know what to say, because I myself am a general shitpant if you excuse me and the atmosphere was giving me chills. I guess it really depends on in what mood you are when playing. Anyways thanks for the tips!
