Light problem (New user) - FlawlessHappiness - 03-04-2012

Hello.

I am pretty new in 'this' forum, but i got Amnesia the Dark Descent and discovered that there is a level editor.

I've been making levels in Portal 2 and i actually got pretty good at it, and it hit me that the editor looks quite the same as Anmesia's.
I watched different basic videos and read the tutorial on frictional games. The tutorial wasn't very detailed,
so instead i watched more videos.

I came to the lighting of a room, and according to the videos i can put a light in the room, make sure the lit-button is checked, and the put a pointlight above it. But when i turn of the light in my room (in the editor) the room is fully dark. There is no sphere of light. What do i do wrong?

I've searched on this forum but couldn't find any help...

EDIT: Non-steam

That's how physics works.

Did you raise the pointlight and increased its radius?

But, i've seen videos of people doing the exact same thing. Then pressing the A and P button, and there comes spheres of light around the pointlights

Datguy5: Yes i raised it from the ground at put it a little bit above the light model, and i also tried changing the radius.

The global point and ambient light is a feature of the level editor to help you see what you're doing without having to place down other forms of light. The global point and ambient light do not affect the maps in game, since they don't exist in game.

So i guess my level will be lit up anyway? But i have to open it in the game to see it

If you turn off the global point and ambient light in the level editor, you won't have to test to see how much room the other lights fill up in game.

That means you either don't have any lights or they're too small.
