FogArea Activation? HELP! - pontusry - 04-07-2012

How can I use FogAreas to activate on a callback??

I want a FogArea to activate on a callback, but it's there even before I enter the script area. It's deactivated in the editor but still there ingame.

I am pretty sure that the global fog is the only fog you can enable or disable in game (if I'm wrong, please correct me).
If it's possible for you to use fog-particle systems instead of fog-areas, you should try that instead - particle systems are at least create- and destroyable. Shy

Yea fog particles is alot better than covering the map with a huge fog area. I would suggest looking in the original maps from amnesia on what settings they have for each map Smile

True Shy . I would say that fog-areas is not good to use at all if you want fog, particle systems is much more realistic. But there are some application areas of uses when it comes to fog-areas. I have used them thrice, one time when I wanted to fade a part of a room from normal=>black, another time when I made a black ceiling with a nice fade and the last time when I covered a hole in the ceiling with a white fog-area + billboards. It probably exists more application areas of uses, but they are probably quite limited.

I wasn't really gonna use the Global Fog, but a single fog area for just one room itself. But I used a little bit of creativity and the coding skills I've got and it looks really good now.

In LevelEditor, you can find many fog-particles (10+). Just press Particle Systems, and choose a ps_area_fog particle from the Particle Systems folder. There's not much more to say about em, well, you can choose colors and do crazy stuff with em, or use em in your sewers to get a decent atmosphere.
