Vista crash - avidgamer - 12-15-2007

I am having problems launching Penumbra Overture Episode 1 on a Vista 32-bit OS w/ plenty of RAM and a more than capable Radeon HD 2900XT graphics card. I click the icon and it begins to load for a couple of seconds and then it stops. I've tried almost everything--turned off start up programs, Anti-Virus and Spyware. I even downloaded OpenAL SDK 1.1, Penumbra updates and tried reinstalling, then opening the program as an administrator but nothing seems to work. Does anybody have a solution?

RE: Vista crash - Thomas - 12-15-2007

Make sure u download and install the latest drivers for your video card. The drivers that come with Vista will not work.

Vista crash II - avidgamer - 12-15-2007

My graphics card is up to date and more than capable for the task. Can you offer me any other help?

RE: Vista crash II - WindexGlow - 12-15-2007

can you offer more help for us by posting system specs, and hpl log?

RE: Vista crash II - Thomas - 12-16-2007

Did you update your video card drivers?

RE: Vista crash III - Thomas - 12-17-2007

(Merged threads...)

Could you please copy the contents of hpl.log found in
"My Documents/penumbra overture/Episode 1/"

Vist crash IV - avidgamer - 12-18-2007

I have looked for the hpl.log but I cannot find it. Maybe it's the Vista. It lists every file from: alut.dll to zilb1.dll but there is no hpl.log. The only log I could find was from the Event Viewer.

avidgamer:
It seems like you are looking in the wrong place. There is no dll files where I want you to look. What is the exact path for where you are checking?
