RE: William's castle, custom story - Cranky Old Man - 04-12-2012 Review: This story is five maps long, and is about an escape from your friend Williams castle (because it for some reason wants to kill you). While it's an overall pretty poorly designed, at least it has a somewhat coherent story going for it. This story isn't ashamed of jumpscares, including blatant poofers and screaming, flying Jesuses. It also features events where your sanity suddenly drops down to zero for absolutely no reason, leaving you crawling around on the floor randomly. As for level design, half of the rooms aren't furnished, and not all wall sections are placed properly. The author clearly hasn't gotten around to naming the keys I pick up, so they all have their standard names, and one key wasn't named at all. I would have given this story a 1 if it wasn't for the author trying to tell a good story. He lacks talent, but at least he has vision. 2/5 RE: William's castle, custom story - Damascus Rose - 04-13-2012 (04-12-2012, 09:35 PM)Cranky Old Man Wrote: This story isn't ashamed of jumpscares, including blatant poofers and screaming, flying Jesuses. So, it's essentially the majority of all other custom stories? I stopped at the flying Jesus. I'm not going to play stories that has flying Jesuses in them (the exception being Cruel 2 who wrapped the scare in a nice little wrapper with a bow on it). RE: William's castle, custom story - Mine Turtle - 04-13-2012 i really dont approve of this story.. at all.. i see youve got somewhat of a story going on, but theres so little... i really didnt understand why im there, who i was, who this ''evil man'' was, and why there were monsters randomly POOFING in my face... 1/5. id go lower if i could.. Surely this story is better than that one. RE: William's castle, custom story - Rnardin123 - 04-13-2012 thanks for the feedback. this was my first custom story and I just randomly posted it. i didnt make any story in it. do you think, I can make better custom stories? Is it worth a try? If this is what you want to do, then do it. If you want to make jumpscare maps, then some people enjoy those as well. I'll tell you something: I have yet to release a custom story myself, and am currently working on my first one. I had zero experience when I started the custom story, but through learning, reading, and experimenting, by the end of the first map of the custom story, I'm proud to say that I've become semi-experienced to say the very least. It's not essentially your ability. It's more of how much effort you put in learning, and how much you push yourself to want to make your story as good as possible. Enjoying what you do, and truly wanting it to be great is the best way to make a custom story, or any game for that matter, and to improve. EDIT: That's also the beauty of being an indie game/mod dev. You have no deadlines, or anything to have to live up to. You can take as much time as you want to make your work the best it can be without it being rushed, or worrying about deadlines. The only thing that can truly rush your work to a crappy completion before its time is you. RE: William's castle, custom story - DreeyRyder - 04-14-2012 Jumpscares? Yes? Go Away! no? Lets download!
