ERROR: Could not map cache file - Ermu - 06-09-2012

Hey!

So, today, on my amnesia mod, i hadn't even touched the mapfile, but as i tried to load it, the game crashed.

I checked hpl.log and got this:

ERROR: Could not open binary file 'c:/program files (x86)/steam/steamapps/common/amnesia the dark descent/maps/plagueforest/01_intro.map_cache'
ERROR: Could not map cache file 'c:/program files (x86)/steam/steamapps/common/amnesia the dark descent/maps/plagueforest/01_intro.map'

I'm assuming it couldn't load the mapfile, because it can't open the _cache. But why can't it load the _cache?

Have you tried deleting the map_cache?

No, because i cannot find map_cache anywhere, neither i know where it should be located.

Same place as the first map save was made.
you mean in the /maps folder? Never had anything like that in there, never. Nothing there now either. Is the file hidden somehow?

It's a full conversion.
The exact directory is /maps/plagueforest/

Errors concerning not being able to load or create map caches have nothing to do with the game crashing.

It can crash for any number of reasons. If i were to run off of the black box stack trace, i would suggest you verify all of your CFG and LANG files.
