all the same; try to speak up abit ^^

Taking on such a big project for your first custom story might be.. a bit hasty; but it is definitely a great way to learn the editors. eventually; as the project proceeds into development; id recommend you to look back at your previous maps. ive experienced several cases where my old maps just completely sucked; and were out of perspective; so make sure you do so.

Because its a great way to learn, and a great story you have here, i say right between "yes", and "not for your first custom story"; reason being its a risky action to take; but it can be so giving, if its done correctly.

good luck on this project! ill definitely be watching this one ^^

Since you asked for a response were we to choose 'Not for your first CS', I would say that if you're really passionate about making another Penumbra game, having obviously loved the original, and particularly if you intend to add to it rather than recreate it, its probably best that you get used to using the editors and building maps on something other than this.

That way, once you have experience you will know much better how to plan and execute your ideas for this. Even if its just a little game that you don't care a great deal about, making test maps just adding fine detail, getting lighting right, and doing some crazy exciting stuff with scripts so that by the time you are ready to start making this in earnest, you won't have such a gap in quality, which may end up saving you time in the long run (not having to go back over remaking previous maps)

Thats how I see it at least... best of luck however you plan on doing it

Well speaking of maps I've been using a primitve (but effective tool) to design my levels and give me a good idea on what I want to do.
