amnesia missing files or....? - Printable Version

amnesia missing files or....? - mutebrony - 06-20-2012

Just yesterday my friend got me amnesia the steam version I was excited to make and play custom stories and also t edit the main menu. But when i opend the amnesia file on my computer it had no files in it sept one that said "main" i checked in side and only had some text files and my user folder but no custom story files nothin i played it and it plays perfectly and shows the custom stories option in the game! Do i have to beat the game before i can or wut. Huh here are some of the files in the main folder names....hpl, mainsettings first start flag .............
does anbody know or Sad
i tried to redownloed it twice yesterday and restart my computer

You're searching in your documents folder, you need to locate your installation folder for steam.
By default this should be C:/ProgramFiles/Steam/SteamApps/Common/AmnesiaTheDarkDescent.

i tried putting the Windows HPL Editor Suite in the amnesia folder but it says its missing adll or somthin
ive tried that but i dont have files steamapps or comon all the folder says is amnesia
let me try to redownloed steam

Once again, do not drop it into My documents/Amnesia/

Do as I said in my earlier post and locate the path where you installed the actuall game, AKA the steam path I provided. It needs to be in the same folder as Amnesia.exe or it will not work.

ok i went to the steam file and it doesnt have steamapps or common like i said it does have amnesia but its only the luancher for the game

Is your windows set to show all filetypes?

Also could you provide a screenshot?

I can't even see the full locations from that search result. Do not use the search function, instead follow this - My computer>C:>Program Files> Steam> Steamapps>Common>Amnesia the dark Descent

If it's not in Program Files, pick "Program Files (86x)" instead. you may be looking in the wrong folder. Why do I get the feeling you're not looking for yourself and expecting us to hold your hand through the whole process?
