Cannot Start Amnesia - whisperingcrazywords - 07-17-2012
Just bought Amnesia: The Dark Descent from Gamestop, got it downloaded and started playing it. Everything seemed to go fine until I got to the screen where you had to create a new profile. At this point the game completely locked up. I could not even exit out of it because it locked my entire computer up. After restarting I tried again and the same thing happened.
I have a Windows XP 32-bit desktop.
Can anyone help me fix this or tell me what I can do?

this has to do with your computer hardware/software (background applications). Your graphics card (which is the bare minimum to play the game and thus the experience won't be good) may be overheating or some backgroung programs like an Anti-virus might interfere.

No idea, try disabling your antivirus, other background programs etc...

All I can think of is that your computer is probably not good enough to run the game properly.
Could you post a DXDIAG?
Run DXDIAG by going to the start menu, hit run and type DXDIAG.

sudden freezes are usually a driver or hardware issue. Make sure you have the latest nvidia drivers installed.
