Game freezes and crashes - Guest - 02-17-2008 I got Penumbra Black Plague today. Install and everythign went just fine. But after playing for a little while, thegame keeps freezing, then crashes. So I have to restart my computer. I tried the hotfix, but the game keeps freezing, then crashing. This happens really early in the game, after I go into the freezer in the beginning. I have all updates, and the newest updates for my ATI 1900XT 256MB Anyone have any ideas? RE: Game freezes and crashes - ced117 - 02-17-2008 Try to install an older version of the ATI driver RE: Game freezes and crashes - Guest - 02-17-2008 ced117 Wrote:Try to install an older version of the ATI driver Thanks, I'll give that a try RE: Game freezes and crashes - Guest - 02-18-2008 Ok, so I've installed an older version of ATI driver, and it worked, for a while. Now the game gets a black screen after a while. What the heck? RE: Game freezes and crashes - jens - 02-18-2008 Hm, there currently is an ATI fix in the works. But this sounds more like the graphics card is running hot, penumbra is quite good at that for some reason. If you have had the card for some time it could be a good idea to open the box and see if the card/fan on the card/heatsink could use a good cleaning. RE: Game freezes and crashes - Thomas - 02-18-2008 Might be that your processor or graphics card is overheating. THere might be some temperature controls in the control panel you can check. Also, try opening up the computer and remove dust from the graphics card fan (do not mix with computer if you are not sure at what u are doin though ) RE: Game freezes and crashes - jens - 02-18-2008 hehe RE: Game freezes and crashes - Guest - 02-18-2008 Thanks for the reply, I hav echecked the temperature, and it's fine I'm thinking it's an ATI driver problem, as the older driver for my ATI card made the game run longer before chrashing. So the older driver worked abit better, but not all the way, as I had hoped Can't wait for a new fix for it Still, won't keep me from trying to play lol I'm such a huge fan of Penumbra |
