[IDEA] punishment for look at the monter's face in Amnesia - oday - 08-29-2012

I think it should be any punishment in amnesia, always when you stand to close in a front of monster.

because as you know, if you look at monter's face few times, then you will not scaried anymore next time and then whole game loose climate/atmosphere.

by saying punishment I thinkig about for example - when player will stand to close to the monster, he sould automactly shout and fall down on the knees because of fear and terrifie, and then monster should kill him. Or you shoud increase "loosing mind" effect in this moment to prevent to situation when players are seeing Monter's face to many times, or when player runing next to the monster (pass him).

Please try to think up any solution, to FORCE PLAYER to keep a little distance for the monster or never look at him, because i'm sure it will increase tension, and will make amnesia more scarry game.

I'd say the current sanity drain for looking at the monster is good enough as it is. It already is pretty much enough to outweigh any desire to stare at the monster for me.

i don't think, amnesia requires changes in this part. it's good as it is, in my opinion,
and to be honest. if i'm playing a good custom story, or the main game, i'm still scared as hell sometimes, although i saw the monster maaany times.

I like this idea because you have a valid point they can lose their scare factor, but people like me never lost their fear of the monsters when I saw them up close; the grunt might look derpy, but its just the fact he is there which scares me and the brute is always scary to me; I hate encountering him. Another thing is I believe I read they're removing the sanity meter in A Machine for Pigs; so they would have to make this a new update in The Dark Descent unless they change their minds about A Machine for Pigs.

GUYS! you miss understanded me. Please remember - amnesia is almost perfect to me. It is the scairest game which I played. I love that syststem with no weaporns and hideing.

I'm saying ONLY, that frightened peoples will be alawys keeping a big distance from a monster, but there is a lot of peoples who WILL TRY TO PASS that monster (next to him), or trying to force him, BECAUSE when we're scared, our mind is working in one from two modes: "RUN OR FIGHT".
SO if THERE IS NO PUNISHMENT when you're looking into monster eyes, then some of us will be trying to run close to monster and try to pass him, and some of us will be trying to run away from him of course

My idea is to make something, anything, that will keep ALL PEOPLES in a distance from monster. Anything which will COST a lot of LIFE energy or mind condition, when you will try to pass a monster or try to watch him. EVEN sudden death is a good solution.

OK first time you can be terrified when you see his face, second time is less scarry, and each next time you will accustom to him, because there is no big punishment when you look at him or even touch him.

No matter how many times I see a Suitor it always scares the daylight out of me. My scariness meter for each monster starting from dark red and going to bright red:

Grunt
Lurky (Kaernk, my favorite monster <3)
Brute
Suitor

sorry, i have to say this,
but why the hell do you use this fontsize. it's just annoying, and i read this with a strange voice, because it looks like someone who's in the first grade and just learned reading/writing. please. just use the normal font size >.<

this actually would be kinda interesting; though it would be a really buggy addition for situations where, lets say, the monster chases you into a corner.

though, another idea would be to give sanity loss a penalty.. maybe dying? not too sure. thats atleast my input on the matter.

if monster chases you into a corner, you should be beated up almost to death, and our player should automactly fall down on the kness and turn away eyes from the monster (as on the beggining of game, when we hear something and he is falling down on the kness despite there is no monster there)
or YOU SHOULD DIE because it is your problem to find a good way to escape and if you are in corner you should die or loos your mind and all controls should be blocked for few second (in that time, monster can disapear)
