Saddest Videogame Music ever? Your Opinion. - the dark side - 09-01-2012

I was playing Max Payne 3 the other day, damn good game In my opinion, )not as good as the first 2, darn gunlimit (at least you could turn the scaling off) and no graphic novels.. but MILES better than the usual COD/GOW clone junk we get from the industry now, at least it was HARD and had , in my opinion, another epic, sad, story) and it struck me, actually, just how Bleak its theme tune is, its just so incredibly sad.

i mean, I thaught the one from "The Fall of Max Payne" (Max Payne 2) was sad, (Number 1, the piano version, was just Epic, Haunting, Action packed..but not all that sad, odd, as all Three Max Payne games have Very Sad, Bleak, Haunting Stories, Max Payne and The Fall of Max Payne being 2 of the only 5 games to ever make me cry, and when FF7 is one as well, thats some elite company!), but number 3 takes it to the next level, it takes the Cello sound from "the Fall of Max Payne" applies it to the Full length Max Payne theme from Max Payne 1, and then Adds a Manic Depressive Choir! i think it may be the Saddest peice of game music ever...

but, whats your opinion? what do you think is gamings Saddest peice of music?

"The Police Cruisers closed in, the Melancholic wail of their Sirens sounding like the offbeat chorus of a Manic Depressive Choir..." (Max Payne, Max Payne 1)

wich max payne? the whole series, or just 3? or 1? or 2? ok, max payne 3 isnt as good as the other 2, in my opinion, but compared to pretty much anything else out there these days, its excellent in my opinion. ah well, each to own.

PS. opening post edited to make it less objective and more subjective.

ok then, as asked. whats the saddest game tune in your opinion?

I don't know if I can classify it as sad, but Cara Mia Addio from Portal 2's ending really left an impact on me.

I think the ending theme from Nintendo DS game 'StarFox Command' was the saddest in my opinion.
Check it out here:

It makes me cry to think about what will happen to the things I love now and later in the future.

It also makes me cry inside that one of Nintendo's greatest Sci-Fi themed games involving the adventures of StarFox did not seem to continue after this. (Not including the 3DS remake of StarFox 64.)

@Robosprog. i think you have misunderstood. i know that 90% of AAA games are terrible, short, Dumbed down, hand holding, all cloned from either GOW or COD, Boring, Brain Dead, Pasturised, Americanised, Dumbed Down, Online Multiplayer Death Fests with no more than a hyper easy tutorial for SP, and all with expanding crosshairs wich mean i cant play them for more than 10 minuites anyway before i throw up.

Sure, payne 3 has its issues, some people may see the gameplay as a little simplistic (although i liked that, it gave the game some old school charm). a gun limit (that always winds me up!) and a serious case of "Hideo Kojima Disease" (too many cutscenes, but, at least it actually had a Story! unlike most AAA games wich are just basic "Russian Commies /Aliens/Russian Alien Commie Zombies, invade New York, Angry American Marines who eff bomb a lot kill them all but get betrayed by there own Army..platitudes about sacrifice... Seargeant dies first...yadda", typical Call Of Duty rubbish) but it was Challenging, it didnt lead me by the hand, it could be had with fixed 'hairs (Vital for me!), and it had a non-regenerating, medkit based health system (i Really like that, i cannot stand regen, worst dumb down mechanic ever made, sucks all the fun out of any game its in, for me, its Medpacks or dont even bother!), all things i look for in a game, and things virtually no other modern AAA game offers. so i liked it. a worthy addition to the franchise for me, if not as good as 1 and 2 were. i dont think any game from todays collapsing industry could be.

each to there own i quess!

@zaffre. wow, that tune isnt sad, no, but it is Beautifull.. valve does it again....

wow. that tune from HR is Sad indeed Arvuti, shame i never got to play the game much because it made me ill (the problem i have with expanding crosshairs,. i get focal distraction, i become dizzy, and then i throw up) shame, i loved the first one, and 2 was a pretty good "old school FPS" if not very good as Deus Ex game.

One of the songs from 1998's Might and Magic VI, this game is one of my absolute favourites and has in my opinion the most amazing soundtrack to this day.
