Telling if Amnesia is pirated from HPL.log - TheBlastPassage - 11-01-2012 I was wondering how you can tell that a copy of Amnesia: The Dark Descent is pirated from the HPL.log file. I have once seen Jens close a thread for pirate maintnance after somebody gave the HPL.log file. I am just wondering what you look for to tell. RE: Telling if Amnesia is pirated from HPL.log - Statyk - 11-01-2012 Sometimes the problem is absolutely absurd. It could only be caused by one of the many bugs caused from pirating. Such as this thread: http://www.frictionalgames.com/forum/thread-18783.html I knew it was pirated because issues like this just don't occur from faulty graphics card drivers or the sort. Such as the huge list of "WARNING: Particle system blah blah..." doesn't happen to a normal version of Amnesia. If a problem just looks, "strange"... Chances are it's pirated. When they're rare occurrences, it's more likely (this thread above was probably the only reported one on this forum). Just be cautious of liars as well. When they say things like "got it from a friend", either: 1) They're lying, trying to hide their source. 2) The serial key is broken since their friend used it. We can't help them from that point, giving that free serial keys just don't happen... 3) The friend may have broken it or they pirated it just as well. RE: Telling if Amnesia is pirated from HPL.log - TheBlastPassage - 11-01-2012 Yea. That's actually the thread I was talking about. I also remember the Thread where the guy updated the game and then it wouldn't accept his serial key. I remember when I asked him where he got his game from he said "Retail." and nothing else. Than when I asked if it was online or in person he replied that it was in person from somebody that lives far away from him. And another thing, do you work for Frictional Games? (Statyk) Just wondering RE: Telling if Amnesia is pirated from HPL.log - Statyk - 11-01-2012 Yeah, he kept making threads even after being closed. He's a bit of a pushy one. =P And haha, though I wish, I do not. I just moderate this website. =] RE: Telling if Amnesia is pirated from HPL.log - TheBlastPassage - 11-01-2012 How do you become a moderator? RE: Telling if Amnesia is pirated from HPL.log - Statyk - 11-01-2012 If I told you that, I'd have to kill you ;] RE: Telling if Amnesia is pirated from HPL.log - TheBlastPassage - 11-01-2012 hahaha lol.
