Cult Of Luna - Swedish Band - Alex Ros - 11-25-2012 What do you think about this Swedish band? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cult_of_Luna Is there any fans, listeners, with an exception of me? I am a very big fan of theirs till their break-through album Salvation of 2004. Here is a link to the 1st meditative-heavy track from Salvation LP, just for example: I am waiting for their upcoming album Vertikal with a great hope. All their previous works were really great and innovative. Really unique sound, 3 guitarists, 2 drummers, bass, electronics and 2 vocalists. Nearly a small orchestra. You could watch them live at London, if you'd like to: RE: Cult Of Luna - Swedish Band - The chaser - 11-25-2012 (11-25-2012, 12:27 PM)Alex Ros Wrote: What do you think about this Swedish band?I liked that one, but I think they wait too much for action. Cool band, I may look more songs from them. RE: Cult Of Luna - Swedish Band - Alex Ros - 11-25-2012 It's not "waiting". The whole musical genre "sludge" is based on that "waiting". It's an extremely eclectic genre, it mixes a very gentle boring-repetitive-meditative melodies-passages with an extremely hard-heavy tunes. And most of times there's no vocals at all (a lot of completely instrumental bands) or very little of vocals, mostly growling. Another "sign" of the sludge genre is the unusually long tracks from 6 minutes to 20-30 minutes, yeah, I am not joking. Somehow this genre is a strange, really strange mixture of a dark-ambient (Lustmord for example) and a drone-doom-metal (Neurosis and Napalm Death as examples). |
