Don't give a damn about mods... All they do is the prevent me having fucking beautiful art like this [Image: duurp.gif] as my signature...

Now If I could replace that ugly "posting freak" crap for.... "The Failed Abortion".... I for one would be fucking pleased whit myself!

It would be cool to be a moderator and put "Pony Overlord" as my title, but I don't have the responsibility and the maturity to be one.

Being a forum moderator is overrated IMO. I have no idea why so many people are interested in being one, although I do respect those who take it upon themselves fully realizing the grubby work it entails.

I'm glad I'm not a moderator. Whenever I'm annoyed, I can just shake it off with "Well, what can you do?". I'd be a lot more annoyed if I actually had power to abuse.

because they want to be the special snowflake with lots of +rep for no particular reason.

and ofc feel all cool and mighty with their power Smile

note: This forum has the best moderators from all the forums i know.. lets hope it stays that way without everyone sending requests

I don't think I'd be able to adjust becoming a moderator. I do feel confident that the current ones have it under control however. It also does seem that a lot of people become moderators (as others have said) just for the feel of being in control of other users, and being above them. Take administrators on online servers for example. More often than not I'll come across a person begging for operator or above status because they want it either to feel high and mighty or just be a jerk about it in general.

RE: How to become one of them - Kreekakon - 12-08-2012

Besides being high, and mighty, another reason some people want to become mods is to get into the circle of "popular elite members". These group(s) usually consist of mods themselves, and other members who are on very good terms with them who have contributed a lot to the forums in general which makes them seem "high-ranking/popular" to the community. Many forums will have this sort of group, although it is usually unwritten outright as to who these people are, but most people will have a general idea of who they are when you give thought about it.

I'm all for every member on a forum being equal, I really am, but if you think about what I just said you'll notice that it probably is true to some extent. It may be a cynical way to look at it, but anyone who gets into these groups will feel very good about themselves even if subconsciously.
