CPU performances - Caterpillar - 12-21-2012 Hi, I would like to know if SSAO shadows are mostly rendered by CPU or GPU. When I played Amnesia for the first time, I had a Phenom II X2 550BE and a Geforce GTX260. Now I upgraded my cpu to a Phenom II X4 965BE and it seems that the game is a lot smoother, expecially with video options to maximum requirements. To add some details, I can say that I played all Frictional Games on Fedora Linux :-) There are games that are very sensible to CPU speed rather than GPU, I am curious to know what about Amnesia RE: CPU performances - plutomaniac - 12-21-2012 By the gpu, maybe your previous processor was bottlenecking your graphics card RE: CPU performances - Caterpillar - 12-21-2012 (12-21-2012, 02:12 PM)plutomaniac Wrote: By the gpu, maybe your previous processor was bottlenecking your graphics card So is Amnesia high optimized for parallel calculus on CPU cores? RE: CPU performances - TheBlastPassage - 12-21-2012 Well, a better CPU never hurts RE: CPU performances - Caterpillar - 12-21-2012 When I had to low some SSAO settings, I tought it was a GPU slowness, instead it was the CPU bottleneck :O |
