I think it is Red but I have no idea why is his picture as icon of the game. We have never saw him so why is he there?

It's a miner from the concept art. You can also see him in the intro.

I think it's Red, 'cause the picture is showed at the same time philip talks about him in the intro. Red was a miner, and he seemed to eat those dogs (Look in his closet). So yeah, I think it is Red.
Though I have no clue why he is at the icon. Maybe put him there 'cause they had no idea what to put in the icon instead?

Yeah, the Penumbra and Overture icons have also been things not really in the game.

I thought that too! It wasn't a very good picture really. But really the develepers must have mentioned somewhere unless their trying to be all spooky and mysterious.

I think that the devs wanted the player to feel they are going to meet more creatures looking-like Red.
At least that's what I felt...(many weird zombies looking like Red, I'm in HUGE troubles <:O)
