Anyone else Pre-Ordered Age of Empires II HD? - Yuhaney - 04-05-2013

Has anyone else pre-ordered the game?
I am currently waiting for the early access so that I'm able to play it @ 20:00.

For me, this is one the games from my childhood!

I saw the game and I wonder what they changed in the game?

The only thing that looks kinda HD-ish is the water

Water, fire and rocks. That's all from the graphical point of view that I am aware of.
But the most important thing is the resolution. Now it supports 16:9 resolutions and multi-monitors.

Original only supports 800x600, 1024x768 and 1280x1024.
You also needed to kill "explorer.exe" from your Windows tasks to get the colors display correctly.

I found that the most important update is the steam multiplayer integration. Man the original AoE2 was near impossible (at least extremely tweaky) to play multiplayer on over the internet.

Pre ordering games is for suckers

I would preorder AoE2 HD any day because I know the game is good.

You're laying down money for a product you have no idea if it's going to be good or not, in the case of AoE2 you do know, so I guess it's not a totally retarded investment

But just look at Aliens Colonial Marines, so many people got bitten in the ASS over that one

Waiting for something to come out and see the reviews is the smarter thing to do

I totally agree with Hunter. I don't see the need to pre order a game unless it's from a store (so that you can get a copy before they run out) but from steam? I dunno, it seems like a unneccessary investment, especially since you can just buy the game later when the reviews start to roll in.

85% true of the time, however if the game is giving some absolutely amazing pre-order incentive, AND you have a good amount of faith that the game will deliver then I don't see much of a problem in going ahead.

For example, preordering Bioshock Infinite on Steam gives you the Industrial Revolution mini-game, the original Bioshock, TF2 items, and XCOM Enemy Unknown. If I wasn't so completely sticking to my standards of always getting retail versions of games if possible, I would've pre-ordered the hell out of that game, especially since I know Irrational Games is a really great developer.

I did this actually with Dead Space 2's Collector's Edition since my local retailer only ended stocking something like three of those when the game came out, one being reserved for me.
