Lucid - CarnivorousJelly - 06-16-2013

Fake demo - that I made because I'm a jerk - is on the last page.

Screenies are at the bottom :)

Release Date: TBA, some time this year

Features
  • Partially non-linear environment
  • Immersive environment; no immersion-breaking stuff
  • Interactive story
  • New, custom music
  • High quality mapping (in my opinion at least)
  • No incorrect or ridiculous narrative jargon
Story:
Your name is Peregrine. It's been months since you last saw that strange place in your sleep, but it's still tugging at the corners of your mind, tearing the fabric between memories and dreams.

There were only a few weeks left with your internship before you were employed full-time, but your discovery made you drop everything and book the first available flight to Scotland: that place in your dreams wasn't made up, it was a school, Covanach Academy. There's snippets of information in newspapers, conspiracy theorist sites, old photographs and records of the place from the late 1800's. The Academy seems to be at the height of its success where it's mentioned; the world's best and brightest were lining up at the doors for admission to the exclusive establishment. There's no mention of it past June 13, 1897 in a side column of a newspaper with rumors that Covanach may be the first higher education establishment to admit female students, along with gossip of the Headmaster going senile.

Your flight leaves in the morning. You left work early, feigning illness and called in sick for tomorrow. No one knows where you're going and no one will believe the stories if you make it back.

That's all I can say about the story without revealing any important plot points (it's quite a lot, isn't it :P).

Progress - 69.389% Complete
  • Maps: 40.625%
    5 maps out of 16 complete (100%)
    4 map in progress
  • Scripting: 16.32%
I'm procrastinating because this is my weakest point. Scripted necessary bits for maps
  • Story: 100%
  • Audio: 50~55%
Changed my mind about making soundtracks, not sure how far back that sets the progress. Including voice-acting tracks in the final percentage for audio.
  • Voice Acting Script:100%
Script completed and PMed links to voice-actors, received 5/5 parts so far, all roles have been assigned (YAY)

RE: It's (Almost) Here: Lillian - FlawlessHappiness - 06-16-2013

Finally! A Custom story from you! Would love to play it

Same here. Can't wait to see all the work you did there.
Though i think that decor and design it's the last step, not the first, let me say.
I would have started with the story followed by the scripting in a basic and empty level.
I found it way more efficient and faster, or is it just me?
Anyways, good luck with the exams.

Aww, thanks guys c:

You do have a good point; I have just always found telling the story through the setting and the interactions to be much more important than having every little bit ironed out before starting. That way I have a little bit of wiggle room if something inspires me part-way through.

That and I really don't like scripting :p
