Updating the Amazon version? - Justinen - 07-12-2013
Greetings, I recently purchased (this week) the digital version of Amnesia from Amazon.com and it came without a patch apparently. I downloaded the patch from Frictional's website and tried to copy the contents into my Amnesia folder but it did not seem to work. The files copied over just fine but I cannot notice any difference in the game when I start it and I do not see anything anywhere about Justine. From what I can tell it is still loading up the old non patched version somehow even though the .exe was overwritten? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
edit- I suppose I should mention I tried the solutions in these threads: http://www.frictionalgames.com/forum/thread-21749.html and http://forum.frictionalgames.com/thread-8929.html with no luck at all.

Download the Amazon version. There should be one.

The Justine button is located on the launcher, not in the original game itself.

Sadly my launcher has nothing written about Justine anywhere on it, it is the same it was before I updated.

I was on the phone with Amazon support before I made this support thread. Apparently the representative from Amazon claims they do not have an update or was ever given one, he says the only thing they were ever given is the same copy of the game they have sold since 2010. I have tried googling and browsing Amazon for this supposed patch for their version with no luck.

I downloaded that one the other night and tried it but it claimed it could not find any installations of amnesia. Perhaps I need to rename my directory or something? Also I really appreciate all the help so far, Plutomaniac.

Weird, that one should work with the Amazon download. At least I thought so since Valusoft (now days Valusoft Cosmi) are the ones selling the Amazon version.
You can use our update and copy the files over manually as you tried. You do it correctly when you get asked to merge folders and to overwrite files.
