Strange graphics bugs. - Pehmu - 08-08-2008 Just started playing the game and I instantly noticed a few graphics bugs. The first one: http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/9162/penumbra1wb8.jpg As you can see, when I choose to examine an item, I see everything double. The second one: http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/9730/penumbra2fi1.jpg Look at the small window and the blue light source above it -- that shouldn't be there. Also, look at the bottom of the screen... what is that blue banner? I'm playing the game with everything maxed, with all the bells and whistles. I tried turning off blooming effect and motion blur which fixed the problems. Well almost… I still see everything double when I examine my surroundings and items. Also, it would be nice to play the game with full graphics since my PC is technically fully capable of running the game with everything maxed. I've updated the game to 1.03, and I've got the latest drivers for my GeForce installed. Here's my PC: Abit IP35-E Intel Q6600 GeForce 8800 GT 3Gt Ram Win XP Home (SP3) Any ideas how to fix the graphics? RE: Strange graphics bugs. - Thomas - 08-09-2008 What resolution are you playing it? Try turning it down to something safe like 800x600 and see if that works. RE: Strange graphics bugs. - Pehmu - 08-09-2008 Thomas Wrote:What resolution are you playing it? Though the game doesn't support this natively, it's still possible to use this resolution by modifying settings.cfg. I'll try running it at a lower resolution. Too bad my display isn't capable of keeping the right aspect ratio when I play games with lower resolutions than 1440x900. I'll have to run it in a window. RE: Strange graphics bugs. - Pehmu - 09-08-2008 Ok, I'm slightly slow, but better late than never. Anyways, I ran a few resolution tests. I tried 800x600 and 1280x800 resolutions, but that didn't fix anything -- the graphics were still messed up. The latest Omega Drivers did not solve the problem either. Any other suggestions? RE: Strange graphics bugs. - Thomas - 09-08-2008 Afraid you have to turn off post effects to get the graphics nice again. You will miss out on some effects but nothing major. No, no... I just tested those for a short time today. I've been using the latest Nvidia drivers this whole time I've had problems with Penumbra. I guess I'll just have to play to game with lower graphics, but that's not a big problem really. RE: Strange graphics bugs. - toyota582 - 09-08-2008 Pehmu Wrote:well no problems for me on an 8600gt and max settings 2xAA and 16xAF and 177.83 drivers. I had a little lag on starting on level 6 my frames would from 60 to below 10 for just a second but turning off motion blur and restarting the game completely fixed that.toyota582 Wrote:latest omega drivers? lol . that site hasnt had new drivers since December of last year. why dont you actually get some modern drivers from Nvidia as that will probably fix your problem. just make sure you fully uninstall that omega junk before getting new drivers. check to make sure you dont have anything wonky forced on in the Nvidia control panel. I was able to fix this problem by changing my resolution to the monitor's native 1680x1050 (strangely, it also worked in 1024x768 but produced similar errors in 800x600 and the packaged widescreen modes) Cheers, RE: Strange graphics bugs. - Pehmu - 09-21-2008 schurke Wrote:I was able to fix this problem by changing my resolution to the monitor's native 1680x1050 (strangely, it also worked in 1024x768 but produced similar errors in 800x600 and the packaged widescreen modes) Yeah, I've been using my monitor's native (1440x900) all this time, but it makes no difference. =/ I also tried 177.93 beta drivers and 177.83 drivers toyota582 mentioned in his last message. So far none of these have helped. |
