Blue Haze Problem - randir14 - 09-10-2013

I and many other people on the Steam forum are having a problem where the game looks like it's covered in a blue haze, instead of being dark. I don't know if this is intentional or a bug, but it's annoying and ruins the atmosphere. Here is a link to the Steam topic:

There seems to be a lot of problems with people playing the game.

A blue "haze" is always on the game, where without the lantern you can still see clear as day for some reason, takes out the immersion of the game.
Any idea what is causing it? If there is any information staff at Frictional Games that wish to know about my system/settings for the game, please do ask and I shall reply.

Is correct, might be that you have the gamma to high that exaggerates it a bit too much?

Can't be too high, mine is set to 1. that' it, setting it lower will make EVERYTHING darker, including the hands and all for the lantern.

+1, people sometimes make gamma a bit too much high.

Here's what I found:

The blue haze starts as soon as I enter the second level. Once that happens, nothing I do, even exiting the game, deleting all data, and restarting gets rid of it (it happens on the first level even with a clean install). The only way to fix it seems to be to restart the whole machine.

Linux x86_64, NVidia GTX 570, driver version 319.32.

it's not so much an issue of brightness as it is an issue of contrast. everything is just washed out and bluish tinted, and the only way i can get rid of that haze is to turn gamma almost all the way down, at which point i can hardly see anything, even with the lantern.
Exactly what this user says, is what's happening in the game. is it possible that MAYBE it is part of the game? A few say so based on the reviews of the game having same blue haze during gameplay while reviewing it.

jens, does the screenshot I took look "normal" to you? If so, is it just a bug that the blue haze sometimes doesn't show up on the first level? Does it go away at some point during the game?

RE: Blue haze? - Daisuke89 - 09-10-2013

A user on the steam forums suggested putting the gamma at .85 will eliminate if not, lower it enough for the game to be dark enough to resemble as if the blue haze ain't there. to me it looks like it reduced it a bit, but to others, give it a shot. See what results you get.

Like I said, different results for different people.
