He's saying that adding two more possible endings for the game would make it harder to figure the story out. :p I still think that Mandus' sacrifice of himself and the Machine worked to fulfill their ritual to create a new future. Other people have pointed out that time only starts moving forward in the ending (the clocks are stuck at 12 AM throughout the whole game). In a way, Mandus had to kill himself and the Machine in order to let the future they saw come into being. (And it's likely going to be worse than ours, considering that we don't know how much damage Mandus caused to London.) RE: Plot Discussion Thread *Spoiler Alert* - Serena - 09-17-2013 I got to page 33 of this thread and suddenly it hit me. (Forgive me if this has been mentioned since then) Oswald Mandus Ozzy Mandus Ozymandias RE: Plot Discussion Thread *Spoiler Alert* - finScript - 09-17-2013 So I didn't really catch the true purpose of the machine. Could somebody explain it to me? (I'm from Finland and I couldn't understand the letters very well for all the big words they were using) Thanks! RE: Plot Discussion Thread *Spoiler Alert* - rotten - 09-17-2013 If I'm not mistaking, the reference to Ozymandias was discussed even before the release of the game. RE: Plot Discussion Thread *Spoiler Alert* - charuchii - 09-17-2013 Alright, first post here... I have a theory on who Mandus' great-uncle is. I am kind of curious what people think of it and I'd like to discuss this theory with people. I typed this before on a personal blog of mine (I'm gonna directly copy and paste it) but I didn't get any proper response to this. If anyone would be willing to read it and give their thought on it, I would much appreciate it, it's a bit TL;DR tho. And if there are any grammar errors, I'm sorry, I hope it'll still be understandable. Spoiler below!

(I'm from Finland and I couldn't understand the letters very well for all the big words they were using) At least two purposes: 1. Conversion of Manpigs to create a work force. This purpose may have been retired after the machine gained sentience, but that's just my speculation. 2. Slaughtering of people on industrial scale.(Possibly in the manner of aztec sacrifice as indicated by notes pointing out that the Aztecs may not have spilt enough blood to avoid the apocalyspe and that the machine will spill enough.) The one where Daniel kills Alexander is the only one where he gets to escape Brennenburg unharmed, and his ambiguous monologue would suggest that he hasn't learned anything from his lesson - he continues to be a self-righteous, blameless coward, willing to shift the responsibility for his evil deeds onto someone else.Didn't Daniel's sister (he had a sister, right?) died like.. in her teens? |
