No, it it it not. I am from sweden and I can't read it.

RE: What hides between Shadow and Light? - Baardago - 07-22-2009

Now this is one of the biggest conundrums I've ever come across. Ever!

It's genuinely driving me out of my mind and compelling me to solve it. Which is one of the reasons why I made an account here just to try and contribute with some of my own (and a friend's) conclusions and see if anyone else has an insight. So... howdy! How's everyone?

Anyway, I'll try to keep this brief since time runs short for me, so I'll just paste the conclusions I have written on notepad so far.

The first quoted part relates to the anagram, and the second is my chat with a friend over Xfire and our conclusions regarding those numerical sequences. He's a math whiz, apparently, so I trust his word.

Warning: profanity can be found in the second quote, I've censored it as much as I could, just in case.

Quote:Scattered conclusions.

Anagram:

Etesh lheo gidgnig tircsret vhea a aupopnoitl atth ecniesar iaryldp. Eterh smtu eb mseo ayw ot atkcr itsh oevedtnempl nda kmea het tefninoitas mceo ot na nde.

These hole digging critters have a population that increase(s) rapidly. There must be some way to track this development and make the infestation come to an end.

Hole-digging creatures = Worm. In the Penumbra games = Giant Rock Worm.

Silently evil emerged darkness.
S E E D

Seed.

Seed can mean many things: seed of life/death, torrent seed, a programer slang, metaphor for the origin of something.

Thus, seed here means the origin of the hole-digging critter problem.

So maybe the origin of the hole-digging critter problem is the darkness? Or evil? Holes are dark, usually. If it's important, then it's likely related to the puzzle answer.

To avoid confusion, the patterns that can be seen in the following quotes were found by skipping certain numbers, basically.

Quote:Numerical sequences, matrix.

First one:

First pattern found.

With the help of Xilanle and his idea of a stone-skipping pattern:

3, 9, 7, 4, 8, 9, 5, 7, 11, 6, 6, 13, 7, (original line)
3, -, 7= 4, -, 9= 5, -, 11= 6, -, 13= 7, (skipping stones)

Xilanle: the result numbers are in order, 4, 5, 6, 7,
Xilanle: So skip numbers are descending, result numbers are ascending

Second pattern:

#, 9, #, #, 8, #, #, 7, ##, #, 6, ##, #, || 9 8 7 6

Third pattern found:

3, #, #, 4, #, #, 5, #, ##, #, 6, ##, #,

Keep skipping over two and you get another ascending pattern

Fourth pattern:

#, #, 7, #, #, 9, #, #, 11, #, #, 13, #, || 7 9 11 13

me: So maybe it's irrelevant filler after all?
me: How the f**k can there be two patterns like this in a sequence?
Xilanle: What kind of sick freaks do they have working there to get this many possible patterns in a single sequence?! ((Note written right now and not during the chat: Please take this as a compliment. >_>))
Xilanle: I got three so far actually
Xilanle: Checking if there's a fourth
me: Oi. They're insane. And like mindf**king people, whad'ya want? o.o
me: It's driving me MAD! T.T
Xilanle: Oh yes theres a fourth.
me: ... you gotta be kidding me.
me: Show me the third and fourth patterns.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Xilanle: I'm good at math and pattern recognition, but I can't find a point to all of it atm
Xilanle: Well f**k me sideways
Xilanle: the ascending results
Xilanle: .
4 5 6 7
3 4 5 6
------------ +
7 9 11 13
Xilanle: 4+3=7 5+4=9 6+5=11 7+6=13
Xilanle: I have no idea what the point to all of it is, but F**K
Xilanle: They love their patterns, but why... and what is the relation of the descending one as opposed to the ascending ones
Xilanle: Hm if theres multiple patterns with two skipped, I wonder if theres multiple patterns with math as well
Xilanle: Can I blame you for this now?
me: Back, sorry.
me: Hehe.
me: You could've just decided to ignore and forget the puzzle.
me: I asked, not demanded, your help.
Xilanle: Sadly I can't let things like this go
me: You chose to begin solving this out of your own volition.
me: Thus, no you can't blame me for this. Tongue
Xilanle: Two sequences are similar, strikingly so actually
me: Hm.
Xilanle: 3, -, 7= 4, -, 9= 5, -, 11= 6, -, 13= 7, || 4 5 6 7
3, #, #, 4, #, #, 5, #, ##, #, 6, ##, #, || 3 4 5 6
These two
me: Tried subtracting the descending pattern from the two ascending patterns?
Xilanle: take both four end result numbers
Xilanle: and they become the other sequence
me: And they have three similar numbres.
me: The 3 and 7 are the only two numbers that don't repeat between the results.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Xilanle: I'm keeping all on notepad for now
me: What are the resulting numbers we get?
me: From the pattern results and the sum you did?
Xilanle: many
Xilanle: If you really want to overthink s**t
me: 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 11 and 13?
Xilanle: Take a gander at this lil joke
me: Huh?
Xilanle: 7 9 11 13 the third ascending pattern, which is also the result of adding up the first two ascending patterns to each other
Xilanle: Now take those numbers
me: Hm. So... C, D, E, F, G, I, K, M. B = T. C = C. Q = H.
me: Hm...
me: No, nevermind. Useless.
Xilanle: The descending pattern is 9 8 7 6, reverse that its 6 7 8 9.
The diffirences between 7 9 11 13 and 6 7 8 9 are 1 2 3 4.
me: Dude. This. Is. The. Epitome. Of. Mindf**king.
Xilanle: Yes... yes it is. I think the real question is how far has it been taken
me: What?
Xilanle: I'm fairly certain a sequence like this has to have a name in math
Xilanle: Since theres far too many patterns

Anyway, yes this is driving us out of our minds, as can be seen in the chat, but we just can't manage to let it go either! As I said, I'm running short on time, so this was just a quick copy-pastah! I'll try to elaborate more, later.

Regardless, anyone who's still trying to solve this madness has any insight on our conclusions regarding the two numerical sequences? Perhaps the name of the sequence which eludes my friend, there?

And, "Hello", "Hi", "Howdy", "Kunbanwa", again!

LOL, you guys still have figured it out?

The answer is Right. In. Front. Of. Your. Eyes.

Oi! Is that sarcasm I read on your post or what? Thought someone would've at least updated this thread if they found the answer. <_<

Though I doubt that someone has actually found it, I don't want even a hint at the answer. Will do it myself.

It's not that. We just tease new comers so that they come to ask why we lied to them when we were joking. Tongue:

Meh. I figured as much. 'sides, I consider myself as not being like most newcomers.

Anyway, has everyone given up on this? :S

Oh no! You wrote it with invisible ink D:

RE: What hides between Shadow and Light? - Thomas - 07-23-2009

This puzzle looks really hard!

I wonder what kinda of madman came up with it!?!

RE: What hides between Shadow and Light? - Yuhaney - 07-23-2009

Oh, shut up, Thomas! Tongue: You're just sitting on your workchair and laughing at us. Big Grin:

RE: What hides between Shadow and Light? - ROT51 - 07-23-2009

It's not hard. It's impossible, at least most of us, including me. This topic started 24.09.2008, and it's still unsolved. I couldn't find anything useful. This topic is just a major headache.Tongue:
