What do you hope to see and not see in SOMA? - SeanieTheMan - 02-06-2014

We are a year or so away from the release of SOMA. The game is obviously still in development, so I thought it'd be fun to discuss what we hope to see in SOMA and what we DON'T want to see in SOMA. Obviously, say everything your heart desires, as Frictional Games might use your advice and add it to the game! Smile

And i definetively want to be able to control a giant space ship. Hell yea.

I hope to see some sort of underwater section where we actually scuba dive, and maybe a monster which moves super-unnaturally, like if a monster moved like a stop motion figure or flickered between existence and non-existence.

I agree with this. Implementing swimming, especially with actual dangers in the water, opens a lot of possibilities. An evolution of the Water Monster sequence, if you will.

As for the 'flickering monster', the Tesla-Pig sort of fulfilled that. :p

I'd like to see this, as well. I'd also like to see more Lovecraftian imagery and some of the emotional gut wrenching from AMfP.

I hope to see enemies that either are or feel constantly present in the level, and not just like they are appearing to make a scary walk or chase you 5 meters to a door. I suppose this is both Hope and Dont

I think what is scary, Enemy's that are constant nearby!
For example Resident Evil 2.
The monster (NEMESIS) is ugly \ scary \ fast / hugh /dangerous / and has a bazooka to shoot you!
THAT'S a guy you are running away from, if you here the chase sound or you spot him...., you are like HOLY SHIT, RUUUUUNNNN!!!
With The Amnesia monsters you are like.. There is another one... ( Still love the watermonster, it's fast and scary + sounds )

Monsters that scared me a lot are these 2;
1 = Nemesis ( Resident evil BIG monster )
2 = The (wall)enemy's from Silent hill (The Room)

The Silent Hill monsters are that scary because they can form themselves everywhere!
Walls.. That is crazy and scary!
They are everywhere and they are there the whole time.
IMO :
Monster is Always nearby = SCARY and feeling being chased in every way possible!
THAT'S what Soma needs.
Monsters that (never) go away untill you DIE or pass the level. ( SOME maps offcourse, not every map )
( Yes, Some monsters of Amnesia stay as well..... but not like what i mean, The monsters i am talking about here, are Always ( looking for you )
