Hi,I wanted to try the amnesia demo before I buy the game but it wont launch. I checked my specs and they are just fine. When I try to open the game it gives me the following message:
Failed to load configuration file!
could not load main init file: config/main_init.cfg
Somone please help meee!

What OS are you on? Where did you get the demo and how did you install it? Perhaps some files are missing or something else happened. Either way I'm sure we can figure it out.

I'm on a mac. I have tried downloading all versions multiple times.

Look at this thread. It might help you. This is a known issue on OS X Mavericks.

That didnt help. When I put the folder in terminal it said no such file or directory

Are you using OS X 10.9 or anything else? By the way this has nothing to do with specs. It's either a configuration error or something else. It shouldn't happen, but it has been an increasing issue lately.

I am using OS X Mavericks. Does that have anything to do with it?

Are you sure that thread does not fix it? It is the exact same issue on the same OS. Do you have the Steam version or retail?
For Steam, open it and right click Amnesia and go to properties. Then local files and browse to open the folder. Open Terminal and type "cd " with the space, and drag the folder icon from the top of Finder (in the Amnesia directory) into the Terminal window to add the path. Did that not work?

Ok, so i reinstalled once more and it worked when i opened in inside the disk image. It was working fine until i quit the game to go to a lacrosse game. Later when i tried to play it, it wouldnt work. Oh and when i did the thing on the thread you sent me it said "not a directory."
