Some next project news(interviews mainly) - jens - 02-17-2009

I've meant to write a news item for the past days, but so far have not come that far. It's the thought that counts they say.

Anyway, with the Penumbra Collection coming out this week there has been quite a bit of interviews and things done over the last couple of weeks.

Some links to stuff that is mainly about Penumbra, but also with some questions and answers that touches topics about the next project.

Just a few questions:

Is the new game going to be a trilogy or something related to Penumbra? Or just one long game?

What about weapons? Bows and swords - or..?

Oh... And thanks for Thomas for the interview! Smile:

I'm under the impression it's just going to be one BIG ol' game, no episodes.

I'm a little dismayed to learn that Lux Tenebras is going to have even a tiny bit of combat in it, but I'm still enthusiatic. I dunno, for ME personally, there was something refreshing about not being able to kill the Tuurngait, how the only options you had available to you were to either throw boxes around like crazy (which really wouldn't do much for you in the end), or run like hell whilst soiling your pants.

I guess they're not taking that kind of thing completely off the table, but I hope they manage to get a nice combination of stealth/fleeing/combat in this game.

The plan is one game and not episodic. What sort of weapons we'll wait to talk about for a later date

Interesting interviews. Looking forward to Unknown! When will we see some new screenshots? Or have you not gotten that far yet? *Haha Smile

I'm sure they have a lot of concept art, render pictures, and actual work on the game has started recently.

That's true. But it didn't hurt asking! ^^

Hold on, I wanna ask one more question now!

Thomas said that you're new game will be more like of an survival horror game.
What does that exactly mean? That we'll have to fight the monsters? Or the old Penumbra related stuff that we'll have to get away from them as much as possible?

RE: Some next project news(interviews mainly) - Thomas - 02-19-2009

We are using the name "Survival Horror" in order to be specific that this will not be some point n click adventure game, but an action-based horror game.

There will be some sort of fighting and we are currently prototyping and working on it. The goal is to make enemy encounters very frightening, so there will be no non-stop monster killing sprees.

So you will still be keeping the adventure game elements just not calling it an adventure game on the box?
