try re-texturing the dirt pile?

RE: Sand Pile needed. - Radical Batz - 11-30-2014

I really don't know how to do that "7heDubz" but thnx for the reply, and I actually tried it myself and kept getting crashes on every program I use like gimp..
Sorry if it sounds childish to ask anyone to do it, I just couldn't do it and would love if someone could try it out Smile
It would be a big pleasure

I believe Statyk did a guide on how to retexture things. Check that out.

RE: Sand Pile needed. - Daemian - 11-30-2014

  • Make a copy of dirt_pile.dae, call it sand_pile.dae
  • Open sand_pile.dae, find the lines <image id... <init_from>
  • Change all that path to your image, just the name. e.g. sand_pile.dds or sand_pile.jpg (just the name matters)
  • Ready, sand_pile.dae should be functional.

Note: Just in case you don't know, you need a .mat for your .dae copy, you can make your own with your image. Just keep the same name you used in step 3. e.g. sand_pile.mat

Thanks for this guide, it helped a lot and would recommend it to anyone whoever wants to retexture, thank you for this Daemian and the forum!"

RE: Sand Pile needed. - Mudbill - 11-30-2014

If you have a .dae and texture file, you can open it in the Model Viewer to generate the .mat and .msh files.

JPG files do work, but can cause issues. DDS files are the best to use. If you use Gimp, you can export it with the use of a plugin. Same with Photoshop. Paint.NET has built-in functionality for it though.

RE: Sand Pile needed. - Traggey - 11-30-2014

It should also be mentioned that the dimensions on your texture are messed up, textures should use the power of 2, rescale the sand into a 1024 X 1024 DDS image before using it.

Alright Traggey and the others, thank you very much for the help.
