Just chiming in to say that I agree about the icons. The icons are directly telling you what to do, and as a result, you are not looking at the object, you are not concerning yourself with the game world, rather you are just following instructions and going through the motions like a robot. I'm sure this is very easy to add an option for.

That is a good point, asdasd!
There is a fine balance between providing too much information and too little.

I can imagine that if I was going to mod SOMA, I would attempt to disable the guidance "icons" and keep/add a mild "glow" effect on the intractable items. That should be just enough to keep the game's ambiance (if not enhance it!) without reminding the player that this is a game. Big Grin

Some of the best games have minimal HUD to keep you grounded in the game, and I hope this will be the case with SOMA too. Smile

Maybe (plot twist) they show up because you actually are a robot.
