Just like with our Amnesia teaser video, it is a custom made map that is meant to show off the general feel and tone of the game over a four minute long trailer. This means that it is not an exact representation of how the game is actually played. It gives a pretty good idea of how the gameplay works though.

But still we can see twitching and stuff in the gameplay trailer.

Frictional never kept the visual distortion a secret. It was present in the videos listed here, from the demo over a year ago. Also, the trailer takes place an hour into the game (which is about 9.5 hours long), so it can't be that spoiler-y.

Even without the visual distortion, it's a pretty obvious plot twist. I think it's safe to say that there are much deeper twists in store.

1. you can hear his heart beating
2. the robot he talks to seems to think he's human
3. you can see his HANDS

so no.

Good points (I forgot about his heartbeat), but:

Could be. But also, he can be androaid covered human-like skin, Like that.

Pointed out that the game is from the characters point of view. If every robot "human" in the game doesn't realize they're a robot and thinks they're still a human, then it stands to reason the player is no exception. So even though we think we look human, it's very possible it's no different than everyone else confused about what they are. If we're looking through his eyes, then just because we see human hands doesn't mean that they're there.

Don't know if this should be a spoiler? I just find it incredibly likely to be the twist if there is one.

Seems you haven't heard about the movie "Bicentennial Man".

I'd like to think he's human. It makes the game more scary knowing you're just a human trying to survive.

Or blade runner.

Yeah, it's possible I guess. but why? it would be cooler imo to have that glitching effect on a humans vision, and if it is a 'twist' why give it away early with showing computer like glitching vision early on? idk it doesn't make much sense. it seems too cheesy for frictional

I agree. I think there's something else going on.

the monster is a robot who has been exposed to the infected structure gel. it likely contains the consciousness of someone who has experienced a psychotic break.

we know it is a consciousness because the machine is incapable of that level of intelligence. and we know from fricitonal game's past work, that they draw from the occult and supernatural. a simple "ai reached singularity" explanation simply would not suffice. in fact, if the mystery is maintained all the way until the very end or even never revealed, it would be scarier.
