Update : Windows 10 - Catalyst - 07-26-2015

Hello guys,

I wonder, after W10 update, games like Amnesia would be supported (especially about Level Editor)? What you think about it?

Just now I had updated my AMD Graphic Card Driver, all render software are working faster, but games, Assassin's Creed 2 is lagging well, but Amnesia The Dark Descent goes on very slow, movement could be called teleportation (even if my graphics card is 1024 MB RAM: 4GB, CPU 3.2 GHZ).

Worths to change Windows 7 with Windows 10, maybe some of you already installed the release?

I'm not going to update. From what I've read about Windows 10, it doesn't have any features that I'm going to need, so there's no reason to update.

RE: Update : Windows 10 - Red - 07-27-2015

DirectX12 does not interest you?

RE: Update : Windows 10 - Mudbill - 07-27-2015

DirectX 12 is the only thing I can see being useful, though not for a while. I don't think games are going to utilize it right away, and it will surely have many issues.

Speaking of issues, Windows 10 itself will most likely be 50% unstable for a couple months. I feel like they're doing this free upgrade thing partially because they want an open beta-like thing going, like Apple did 2 years ago with Mavericks (well, with the free OS thing, not officially a beta, but that's how it felt).

The free upgrade is reserved for a year. I won't update now. I might reconsider it next year, but chances are I'll skip it.

RE: Update : Windows 10 - Romulator - 07-27-2015

Just while Win10 is on topic here, if I buy a laptop which claims to have Win10 on there, can I assume it is pre-installed, or would I be given say Windows 8.1 with the option to upgrade?

RE: Update : Windows 10 - Mudbill - 07-27-2015

If you buy it right now... I'm unsure. I suspect Microsoft has already shipped it to manufacturers, but I don't believe they're allowed to sell them before the release date. So most likely you'll get 8.1. If you wait until sometime after the release on the 29th, it might come pre-installed. To be safe (if you mind, that is), I'd wait a bit more just to make sure the ones with 8.1 are done away with before buying, if you aim for it to have 10 already.

You are right, of course, but as "Microsoft" said, this would be the strongest platform in the history.

Do you believe them?

Which company does not claim their products to be the best on the market?

Vista was supposed to be the safest platform in the history. It didn't work out pretty well.

RE: Update : Windows 10 - J.R.S.S. - 07-28-2015

If people would observe the pattern of Windows, every other OS is superb. Not to go very far back, but for example:

Windows 95 - Bad
Windows 98 - Superb
Windows 2000 - Bad
Windows XP - Superb
Windows Vista - Horrid
Windows 7 - Superb
Windows 8 - Bad
Windows 10 - ???

And those ??? aren't completely justified, for I believe it should be stated superb or at least good. I've been beta testing it for over a year now, and I can say it's a solid OS. Once again, it takes all the good out of the last OS (8), removes the bad, and combines it with the last good OS (7) and then a better OS comes out of it.

Microsoft uses the OS that comes out after there last good one as a beta test of its own. 95 was there to build 98, 2000 was there to build XP, Vista was there to build 7, and same goes for 8 being there to build 10. Efficient, or even fair, I can't say, but that's the pattern and it hasn't changed.
