Make a mods/ in the game folder (next to soma.exe etc). Put mods in here for the none steam mod launcher to find them. When using the steam modlauncher the mods end up in steam/steamapps/common/workshop/soma/... (or something very similar). You can copy a mod folder from the workshop directory to the mods directory to easier work with the mod and to use the none steam launcher to test it.

Type are as far as I know only StandAlone and AddOn. StandAlone makes a custom_story or total conversion. The AddOn makes an addon to SOMA, for example the loading bar mod in the workshop.

Images and extended descriptions can be created on Steam in the workshop.

PublishedID you do not have to bother about, the ModUploader will fill it out when you upload a mod to workshop.

I use the GOG version so i cant use the workshop for mods but i have a little test map made in the editor but i cant load them in to the mods folder. (with the mod launcher)

I only point this out because in the scripter's guide, it asks us to be familiar with it :3

Well, it actually asks people who were working on Soma during development to be familiar with it Big Grin - remember, they released parts of their internal documentation for us to use.

Hi everyone! I can't upload my mod in Steam Workshop. HPL Mod Uploader: "Steam client must be running to be able to publish". Steam is running.

RE: Why play SOMA when you can make SOMACH? - Filizitas - 09-25-2015

restarted?

Seconded this one. Can't publish my mod, as it says Steam isn't running even though I have it up right next to it. Restarting did nothing, as did disabling the Steam beta features.

I do have Steam installed on a drive that isn't my C drive. Would that have anything to do with it?

If it doesn't automatically take you to the fix, just scroll down to ModLauncher and Steam API failed to initialize. The fix is the exact same for the Workshop Uploader issue.

Yep, this fixed the problem. Thanks!

This never works for me, is there something else I'm missing? I created a folder to store my mods in simply called mods since I didn't have a folder like that. But it still just doesn't work, with the solution you gave.
