SOMA Sounds Encrypted? - A.M Team - 09-24-2015
All the sounds are encrypted in a strange way (.fsb?), how can I open them?

You need an editor from FMOD, but it seems the site is down at the moment so can't give you link. It is freely available. However, you can not edit the sounds because to edit the sounds you will need the original files. But you can check how stuff works and browse the files to see all the 18 000 sounds available.

in "SOMA/lang/eng/voices" you have OGG files of all voice sound files. you can open them with VLC.

As Jens' said, the encryption is due to FMOD, not something our side. There are ways to extract FSB's but I'm not sure if the tools have been updated to the latest FMOD version.

I have used http://aezay.dk/aezay/fsbextractor this extractor to get the files, cant open the OGG files with no problem, not with audioconverters, not with audacity, not openable in sony vegas 12, windows player fails.
Then I tried FMOD and well I can open the soundbank but FMOD can only show me the files, but when I doubleclick on the files FMOD just tells me that the files cant be read.
So as far as things stand, I have no idea when and how to get SOMA's soundfiles.

Hmm, odd. I tried the fsbextractor and every sound I clicked on played fine (wav files, it used windows 10 groove to play them). But I can't remember which fsb I tested. Now every one I open fails to play. I guess I got lucky the first time.
Fmod studio doesn't like the fsbs, and says the fdp uses an unsupported 3d dsp.
