My system far surpasses the recommended requirements for SOMA, but I can't get it to run above 30fps. Turning off Vsync just has it run just above 30 with insane tearing. I played for a little and my game crashed hard shortly after I passed through the first underwater tunnel. I've tried both 'vanilla' and beta 1.01 (build 788777) versions of the game and it still runs poorly. What am I doing wrong?

Ah sorry about the title, it's really late where I'm at. I can re-post this if necessary.

What if you enable vsync in the control panel for the amd card instead of using it in the game?

Same result, game won't go above 30, maybe 45 if I'm staring at a wall. Changing the settings in-game doesn't really have any effect on performance. Unlocking the framerate in the cfg file didn't have any effect either.

If you haven't already: Make sure that drivers are up to date too.

Also, try adaptive sync and see how that works.

Drivers are up to date, AMD only releases them every couple of months anyway. Adaptive sync acts like I turned vsync off entirely, tearing everywhere and crap framerate. I've played with all of the settings ingame and nothing noticeably impacts performance in either direction.

It could be case of corrupted OpenGL drivers. I would suggest uninstalling the drivers and then reinstalling the latest one fresh. I know this have worked in the past for some.

I just tried this and it's so far a lot better. There's still drops here and there but it might even out as I play, I didn't have time to play too much. I'll report back if I'm still having significant issues but it looks like it's downloading another patch from Steam so this might've done it. Thank you so much for your help and responsiveness on this, I've been looking forward to SOMA for a while now Smile
