You don't need VC++ 2015 for SOMA/Steam. Here is what you do: 1. Download MSVC++ 2013 redist x64 and x86: http://download.microsoft.com/download/2/E/6/2E61CFA4-993B-4DD4-91DA-3737CD5CD6E3/vcredist_x64.exe http://download.microsoft.com/download/2/E/6/2E61CFA4-993B-4DD4-91DA-3737CD5CD6E3/vcredist_x86.exe 2. Download MSVC++ 2012 redist x64 and x86: http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/6/B/16B06F60-3B20-4FF2-B699-5E9B7962F9AE/VSU_4/vcredist_x64.exe http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/6/B/16B06F60-3B20-4FF2-B699-5E9B7962F9AE/VSU_4/vcredist_x86.exe 3. Download MSVC++ 2010 redist x64 and x86: http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/6/5/165255E7-1014-4D0A-B094-B6A430A6BFFC/vcredist_x64.exe http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/6/5/165255E7-1014-4D0A-B094-B6A430A6BFFC/vcredist_x86.exe 4. Download MSVC++ 2008 redist x64 and x86: http://download.microsoft.com/download/5/D/8/5D8C65CB-C849-4025-8E95-C3966CAFD8AE/vcredist_x64.exe http://download.microsoft.com/download/5/D/8/5D8C65CB-C849-4025-8E95-C3966CAFD8AE/vcredist_x86.exe 5. Go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features, open it, type "c++" in the search box and UNINSTALL all of them. 6. Reboot. 7a. For Windows 7/8/10 x64 install all the downloaded packages, starting from 2008, both x64 and x86 7b. For Windows 7/8/10 x32 install all the x86 ONLY downloaded packages, starting from 2008 I know, this seems to be a lot of stuff to install and a bit excessive but this should cover all possible dependencies for the future. You only need to check the latest updates here https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2977003 and remove old version and install new one once per 2-3 months. VC++ 2015 isn't really important since no games actually use it, mostly latest software updates and demos. If SOMA still throws that error for you that means something else is the issue and not the dependencies. probably corruptured files/installation, or may be AV software interfering (keep in mind that Win8-10 have built-in AV Windows Defender). |
