Merchandise? - PiratesFr33k - 10-16-2015

I am totally in awe with the game. Especially the ending, of course.

That said, I've been reading Philip K. Dick, Arthur C. Clarke and the likes since... I guess... 1999? So while SOMA didn't bring anything really revolutionarily new to the table... of course, seeing how it deals with so many philosophical questions that have been discussed for years... the way the player EXPERIENCES those things through the game is absolutely stunning. Breathtaking. Excelling beyond all bounds, if you ask me personally. I haven't felt like that about a game (when the credits rolled) in a looong time.

So thank you very much for this phenomenal game, Frictional Games!

The thing is... now I really want to have more stuff of the game. Physical stuff, to be exact. Wink I'll probably let some big official SOMA wallpaper from the web be printed as a poster for my apartment, but... isn't there something more? Something I could spend money on? Big Grin

I was thinking along the lines of...
  • a boxed version of the game
  • the soundtrack on CD
  • an artbook
  • a novelization
  • a UH8 plush robot! Big Grin
  • alternative art posters
I doubt there'll be anything like that coming our way, will there? Sad

I remember reading FG saying that wouldn't happen for a long time, could be wrong. Eitherway I really do hope a physical copy is made at some point though.

I can imagine that fitting perfectly with my BB-8 Star Wars plush.

Yeah! Smile That plush robot would also perfectly fit in my plushie collection:

From left to right:
  • Companion Cube (from Portal)
  • Cthulhu (sitting on a Sonata Arctica pillow an ex-girlfriend made for me)
  • the teddy bear that was a gift for the day I was born (so it's almost 33 years now)
  • Harvey (from Edna & Harvey: The Breakout)
  • Imp (from Zero Punctuation)
  • Headcrab hat (from Half-Life)

I also have this Portal 2 turret which has a movement sensor in it and talks:

An arranged soundtrack at all would be interesting to hear. Given that SOMA's music is largely incidental (compared to the previous series'), listening to the ripped audio outside of the game feels piecemeal. A full album would be pretty satisfying.
