Insanity Meter - Cask - 10-22-2015 Is it just me or does turning on your lamp or igniting candles make no difference to your insanity and level of vision? I also noticed that you can be in the dark in certain spots without your insanity level shooting up. Is this a bug? RE: Insanity Meter - Mudbill - 10-22-2015 Unless the game is modded, I think the sanity system works like this: - Standing in pure darkness will start drain and effect after about 2-3 seconds. - Standing in dark, but looking at a light that is relatively close does not trigger it. - Standing in dark enables the night vision effect, which is the blue haze light. Being near light disables it. - If the light source has a small radius, you'll often get a shorter view from the light than the night vision. - Sanity drains and restores fairly slowly, so you most likely won't notice any immediate effects. - If you're near sanity collapse, being near a light source creates heavy motion blur and distortion. It seems being in dark disables some of this. RE: Insanity Meter - Cask - 10-22-2015 Thanks ^^ RE: Insanity Meter - Googolplex - 10-26-2015 I often wonder how many people focus so much on the sanity system. Sanity will never kill you, so just play the game and enjoy some extra scares when sanity is low. It's meant to be a side-effect only, not a major thing people have to keep constantly track of. RE: Insanity Meter - Mudbill - 10-26-2015 In that sense, I guess it might kill some of the immersion by knowing the technical details of the system. I figured it was for research purposes. Either way, I guess that decision was for OP to decide. RE: Insanity Meter - Cask - 10-27-2015 That^ Still a great game RE: Insanity Meter - cantremember - 11-07-2015 I thought that, if you get the nightvision effect and the crackling noise, it means your sanity is slowly being drained, otherwise it isn't. eg. If you happen to stand in a dark spot and the game doesn't do the crackling noise, then you're fine. RE: Insanity Meter - Mudbill - 11-08-2015 I believe that's correct, yes. |
