Haha, I wish. I'm same as you - never played the thing. Although, I do know a lot about how organs work. I too wish to be able to lay my hands on an organ manual one day, play with the stops, etc. Big Grin

Messiaen is pretty interesting, although I think the organ could be taken further, especially in combination with orchestra and synths. Smile

I don't think organs are intimidating, even though they can be if they want to. I felt real fear listening to a live performance of Reger's "Trauerode". But to me, the organ signifies variety to the extremities above all else.

Well I meant mainly on a technical level. I'm not completely familiar with the instrument, but I believe there are two keyboards, plus like 5-10 stops for different timbres in addition to the bass pedals. For someone only familiar with piano, it seems much more difficult to play, especially the bass pedals.

EDIT: Wow, I just looked at some pictures of big church organs and they have like 4-5 keyboards.
