I doubt it - she'd have to be hugging you then everytime you get hurt. I think when she suggests she's going to give you the biggest hug of your life its actually a subtle hint that she's going to attack you. Maybe.

Although if she were infected wouldn't she try and destroy the computer?? hm.

but do the attacks really hurt you? I got hit many time in the "fight" with her/it, cause I had no clue what to do, and didn't seem to lose a significant amount of health.

Did someone actually try getting killed in that fight? Cause if you can't die there it's very likely that shes not infected and it's only Clarence messing with your brain.

I just stood still and let "Amabel" "hug" me all she wanted. I died.

Apparently, Clarence is powerful enough to make your body interpret hugs as vicious attacks.

Actually if you die that means 'my' idea makes more sense (It's not my idea, someone else here created the theory)

IE, She was infected, Clarence made it appear she wasn't and that you killed her, you bastard.

Yea me too, he's always saying he feels like he's leaving a part of himself behind in both games.

He says he's leaving a part of himself behind as a joke. Because you are saving so your like leaving something behind to continue from...

I'm deeply unconvinced it's only a joke reference.

More to the point, your mind has absolute control over your perception, it could interpret anything and nothing as vicious strikes, and die if you go into shock/stop breathing.

I agree on this. The artifacts seem to be the main culprit.

But then clarence would have just paralysed you when other infected are chasing you.

Weren't the wolves in Overture infected? Philip himself has been around them. That could be how he got infected. Plus, how would smoke make Philip infected.

Guys, this is a really simple question. He probably was purposely infected by the Tuurngait while he was unconscious from the end of Overture to the beginning of BP. That's why he was being held in that room instead of being killed, they were waiting for him to transform.
