buffer overrun problem - eaze2011 - 09-10-2010

whenever i try to launch the game , the game shuts off after blackscreen, and a pop up comes on saying

Buffer overrun detected!

A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's internal state. the program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated.

What should i do? it was the same problem never got to play it.
i thought by getting the full game it might be different , but just wasted my money?

any fix?Confused

I have a simular, if not the same problem. Everytime i get to the launch screen and hit the launch button, it begins to launch (or so it seems) then comes up with an error message that reads: Buffer overrun detected!

Program: ...ps\common\amnesia the dark decent\amnesia.exe

A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the programs internal state. the program cannot safely continue execution and must now terminate.

I uninstalled and reinstalled more than once, and that did not fix it. i bought the game on steam, help would be appreiciated

I think you should go to nvidia.com and download the latest driver, then uninstall your old driver, reboot the computer and install the new driver.

RE: buffer overrun problem - Jibb1324 - 09-18-2010

My computer is brand new, it has all the correct and nessicary specs to play this game, the drivers are updated. i thought it may be a windows 7 issue but my other friends all have 7 and this game works fine. The buffer over run seems to have to do with C++ source code. I dont know what it may have to do with this game, but possibly it may help. please let me know, me and this other guy seem to have the same issue and would both like to play your game.

by judging the downloads i think they are trying to find a solution , the reason this is taking long is because they did not expect this bug. and might come as a shock

RE: buffer overrun problem - Thomas - 09-21-2010

The problem seems to be some sort of internal driver error. The log shows some assembly code output and all is evidence of an internal error. Lookin through the output I see:
Quote:# cgc version 2.1.0000, build date Jul 8 2009
Which means that some part of the driver is over a year old. This means that the driver needs to be updated. If downloading latest driver, uninstalling and then installing new one does not help, then you might need to use some driver cleaner program.
